In search of the hottest startups, entrepreneurs and investors of Russia
The Next Web introduces the online Russian Startup Awards
11 FEBRUARY 2013, MOSCOW, RUSSIA
SummaryThe Russian Startup Awards is an online competition determining the hottest startups, entrepreneurs and investors in the country. In 7 categories the public can nominate and vote for their favourite through their preferred social media channel, and winners are presented online February 20th. The Next Web CEO Zee M. Kane is coming to Moscow to meet the winners and nominees on February 21, 2013 during an informal networking night.
"Startups have always played an important role in TNW events. Each year we welcome many promising companies at TNW Conferences, but now we are also coming to Europe's tech-hubs, such as Moscow, to discover the best of Russia and put tech entrepreneurs in the spotlight by our online competition", says Patrick de Laive, co-founder of The Next Web.
Online nominating and voting
The Russian Startup Awards are a public choice award, where the people decide on who will win the awards. It starts with nominating your favourite startups through our platform. The TNW Jury, consisting of Zee Kane, CEO of TheNextWeb, TNW co-founder Patrick de Laive and TNW editors Robin Wauters and Martin Bryant, select max. 5 companies or people per category who will be going to the voting round. During the voting round, which lasts one week, anybody can vote for their favourites via the social voting platform or e-mail.
The 7 categories are Startup of the Year, Best (Co-)Founder, Best Web app, Best Mobile App, Best Design, Best E-commerce, and Best Investor.
The winners of these 7 categories are announced online February 20th. The next day, the startup community will gather for drinks, chats and to celebrate the winners and nominees at a meetup in Moscow, where TNW CEO Zee M. Kane will be present.
The Russian Startup Awards are part of the TNW Startup Awards meetup tour across 12 countries in Europe.
Each winner receives a ticket to the TNW Europe Conference in Amsterdam in April 2013. This high level networking event brings the tech industry leaders from Europe together to build a bridge between those markets for startups and companies.
We are still looking for partners and beer sponsors that would like to show their support to the startup community by chipping in on the bar bill during the meetup: http://thenextweb.com/startupawards/russia/become-sponsor
